Great tour! Most of the time it's an easy walk on solid paths. Few times you have to climb stairs to get to the next section. The weather up there is very different from the coast. Definitely dress warm enough, the hike starts a peak where it's quite cold (6°C in our case), bring good shoes and a rain jacket. When we were done we walked some 11km, saw the water falls, flora and fauna. The guide did a great job in telling us about the ecosystem and the history of the area.
Extremely happy with the tour plan as well as tour guide Fernando and booking clerk Laura
This was fun, exhilarating, and a bit 'off the limit' from what we thought we had booked. We were on a P&O Cruise but booked direct through Madeira Best. We would question the statement ...."We stop at various viewpoints so you can admire the beauty of the natural landscape", although we drove past some stunning views and had one stop at the Sky Walk attraction. So, if you are thinking about old villages, stopping at viewpoints, and gently meandering through Madeira with some off-roading, this isn't for you. However, what you get is an extreme off-road experience, a bit raw and rugged, but facing tremendous challenges of steep, muddy, and wet terrain. Be prepared to get muddy and wet (they supply waterproofs), and to be fair, if you want extreme, then book this. Probably more suited for a younger crowd rather than us 'oldies', but would we have changed it ? No.... we laughed and screamed so much and thought it was an exciting experience away from the norm. The poor guide got used to our more leisurely pace and clearly yearned for more speed and mud, but he got to know us and was very patient and got in our groove. A pleasant stop for a coffee at a local coffee house. Basic and un-assuming, but for locals and out of the tourist zones, 4 coffees cost under £5.00 (for all four). With hindsight I should have bought the lovely local ladies a coffee as they were all welcoming. Very clean, welcoming and a good toilet stop !! (needed it after all the bumps). A lovely young chap running a business for his family - loved it !!
We booked a car with this service, and we couldn't be happier with the experience! The car arrived right on time early in the morning, and we were able to visit so many incredible places, including Pico do Arieiro and the stunning Fanal forest. Everything went smoothly, and we encountered no problems at all. I'm so glad I chose this service for my trip!
A tough, challenging but very enjoyable walk, some amazing views. Definitely recommend this walk, but only for the physically fit and seasoned walkers!
Easy-moderate difficult level hike with amazing views! The guide (Nadia... I think) is a lovely and professional girl who give us interesting information about the place while we were hiking. Stops calculated to make sure you catch your breath and refill supplies if needed.
Vale muito a pena caso contrário dificilmente nós visitaríamos o Jardim botânico “Quinta das Palmeiras” e a casa tradicional “Casa da Serra”. Passeio muito descontraído e ideal para toda a família!
Amazing views on this walk. It's a fairly short walk in comparison to some of the others but the views are 100% worth it. Make sure you take a hat and sun cream as there is no cover at all, and completely exposed to the sun and the heat.
For starting to discover the island a tour like this is great. You will spend just enough time on the landmarks to get a glimpse of what you can do later. The guy, Denis has a lot of information for you to offer. We recomand You this tour along with other activities from madeira.best. Enjoy!
Alex, the boat owner is an incredible young guy. He goes the extra mile to make everyone feel welcome and relaxed. His boat business is clearly his passion as is surfing! We saw an amazing sunset and ate a really lovely fruit platter. His crew mate was al
