The tour begins in Câmara de Lobos, the picturesque fishing village that inspired Winston Churchill. We then head to the impressive Cabo Girão (entrance not included), one of Europe’s highest sea cliffs, offering panoramic views over the ocean and Madeira’s southern coastline, before making a short stop in the charming village of Ribeira Brava. The adventure continues to the magical Fanal Forest, where centuries-old trees shrouded in mist create a truly fairytale-like setting. Next, we visit the highlight of the tour, Porto Moniz, famous for its natural volcanic swimming pools and the spectacular scenery of Madeira’s northern coast. On the way back, we pass through Seixal to admire the iconic Véu da Noiva waterfall and finish in São Vicente, one of the island’s most traditional villages, nestled in a lush green valley. This was my first trip around Madeira and a beautiful start to explore the island! Fernando, the guide, was extremely thougtful and knowledgeable and made our journey comfortable. The van was super new and the AC worked perfectly. And the views and places we saw... They left me breathless! An experience to remember and to want to repeat!
What an amazing excursion! Denis, who was our driver and tour guide for the day, was excellent in every way. He passed on a great deal of information about the places we drove through and also stopped at, as well as Madeira in general. He was also very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of the island and on several occasions stopped the mini bus to pick leaves and herbs so we could touch and smell them first hand! He was also a very safe and skilful driver which was really appreciated. This is an excursion I would totally recommend!
