Ribeiro Frio 2 Medium Madeira Trail Tour starting in Poiso going through a zone covered by large pine trees followed by area of Chão da Lagoa.

Medium Madeira Trail Tour starting in Poiso going though a zone covered by large pine trees followed by a single track to cross a brook passing to the treeless area of Chão da Lagoa. We contour the Chão do Areeiro and after crossing the road, we enter an upward trail that ends at Pico do Areeiro. From this peak we can observe the Pico Ruivo, the Paul da Serra and all the central mountain massif of Madeira. The descent is made through the Chão do Areeiro and the Environmental Education Course of Cabeço da Lenha, where are planted and preserved some native plants from Madeira.

From this point the descent is made by the Levada do Blandy, turning left and passing through the Cabeço da Lenha enjoying the views over the hydrographic basin of Poiso where is located the parish of São Roque do Faial and then descending on a dirt road. The descent into the Ribeiro Frio is made by a technical trail embedded in the Laurens Forest and heading on Balcões. Following the course of the levada we arrived at Ribeiro Frio, where we can visit a trout vivarium. The ascent is made by a royal stone road through the Chão das Feiteiras where is a sheepfold, and ending again at the starting point, Poiso
