This Madeira Trail Tour trail begins on the third highest peak of Madeira, Pico do Areeiro with 1818m. Along the trail we are gifted with fantastic landscapes and breathtaking abysses. The trail is mostly done with stone steps or excavated in the rock, beginning by the passage in the Ninho da Manta viewpoint, we have a view of the entire hydrographic basin of Poiso with a view at the bottom of Fajã da Nogueira, then we continue following the trail through the Pico do Gato. At this point the path splits, and go to the right to begin a steep climb around the 2nd highest peak, Pico das Torres with 1851m.

On arrival at the Pico Ruivo shelter the trail is involved in a molar Heather (Erica Arborea). This whole area of these endemic species is being replanted once in 2010 was devastated by a large fire occurred in this central mountainous massif. 200 m of climb are sufficient to reach the highest peak of Madeira Island, where we have a 360 degree view over the entire central mountainous massif and almost the whole island as far as we can see. The return to Pico do Areeiro is done by the shortest alternative passing through some tunnels excavated in the rock that allow us to cross some majestic mountains. Getting to Pico do Gato, the route is the same as was done in the first place till this point.
