Opened at July 16th of 2021, located in Estrada Monumental nº14, the Modern Art Museum of Madeira is a cultural space that gathers a vast art collection in the field of paintings and installations. There are more than 300 pieces, mostly created by the artist Rui Sá, divided in 14 thematic areas and a room for temporary exhibitions, in a total area of 800m2. Its mission is to challenge the visitors to use their creativity, critic sense and the analyses of art with a meaning beyond a simple look, from an innovative and “out of the box” construction that awakens for the day-by-day realities, in a logic of rediscovery and possibilities, generator of changes of a far from ideal reality. In addition to the artistic pieces, MAMMA is the ideal stage for the organization of multiple events, like concerts of different musical trends, artistic teaching and fashion shows, that have place in its Multievents Auditorium, intending to be a gathering point for art lovers and to contribute for a different perspective in the ambit of the local offer.
