🌊 Discover Madeira’s coastal beauty in a peaceful, natural setting

All Madeira inhabitants know this marine bird due to their loud, strange, and funny songs when they comes ashore to their nests. Join us on two nesting areas to observe and listen to this large shearwater that breeds mostly on the Macaronesian islands.

At sunset, Madeira’s cliffs and coves transform into a natural amphitheater for one of the island’s most fascinating wildlife rituals — the return of the Cory’s shearwaters (Calonectris borealis) from the ocean. On this tour, you'll join a local ornithologist who will take you to one of the island’s best coastal observation points to witness this breathtaking moment.

As daylight fades, the first shearwaters begin to appear over the horizon, gliding low over the waves and calling out to their mates. You'll learn how these birds spend most of their lives at sea, only returning to land to breed. With professional optics and fascinating commentary from your guide, you’ll get a close look at their behaviors and the challenges they face in conservation.

The group size is kept small to ensure a quiet, immersive experience. Transport is included, and you’ll be back at your hotel in time for a relaxed evening — but with a memory few get to take home.
