Curral das Freiras Hard Madeira Trail Tour

This Madeira Trail Tour beginning at the viewpoint Boca dos Namorados where we have a top view of the picturesque village of Curral das Freiras.

Beginning this Madeira Trail Tour at the viewpoint Boca dos Namorados where we have a top view of the picturesque village of Curral das Freiras, we begin the descent into that parish through a long technical trail, ending in the place of Lombo Chão and coming to the Centre of Curral das Freiras through paths and road segments. Reaching the center of the Curral das Freiras where you can taste some local delights, we proceed through some paths to the place of Fajã Escura entering there a long uphill trail with a view to the highest peaks of Madeira ending in a place called Relvinhas. Here we turn left and continue the trail going up and down some basalt stairs to Boca da Corrida where we can contemplate once again from a different perspective an aerial view about the Curral das Freiras.

In Boca da Corrida there is a forest house where if necessary we can supply water, and then continue through dirt road in the Jardim da Serra mountains through the Chão dos Terreiros, and then by Montado dos Aviceiros on a dirt road, here we enter a single track trail that goes straight to the Trompica forest house. From here we follows the dirt road to Fonte dos Burros where we have a phenomenal view to the Valley of the Serra D ‘Água, Paúl da Serra and Encumeada. From this point, the return is done by an alternative superior dirt road an then again we enter o a trail that leads us back to Chão dos Terreiros and enter in a trail in the Montado dos Aviceiros following the same without deviations and then turning left to find the Levada do Jardim da Serra. We always follow the Levada crossing the Corrida road and leaving little further to climb a dirt road to the Boca dos Namorados.
