The Tristão Vaz Statue is located in Machico in front of the Mother Church. This statue was designed in honor of the discoverer and first captain donee of Machico for their important contribution to the Madeira Islands. This statue was sculpted in bronze by Teixeira Anjos and inaugurated in 1972.
