PR2 Vereda do Urzal Hiking Trail

The PR2 Vereda do Urzal Hiking Trail lasts 4:30 hours, begins in Fajã dos Cardos, in Curral das Freiras. It’s always a climb to reach the Boca das Torrinhas, and from here is to always go down to the Lombo do Urzal, in the village of Boaventura.

The PR2 Vereda do Urzal Hiking Trail lasts 4:30 hours, begins in Fajã dos Cardos, in Curral das Freiras. It’s always a climb to reach the Boca das Torrinhas, and from here is to always go down to the Lombo do Urzal, in the village of Boaventura.

During this walk it is possible to access the route of Pico Ruivo through connection to route PR1.3 Vereda da Encumeada Hiking Trail in the area of the Boca das Torrinhas.

The setting in the Boca das Torrinhas is fantastic, around the peaks surrounding the Nun’s Valley, especially the Pico Ruivo (1862m).
The presence of exotic vegetation in the path of the start prior to a lush area of natural vegetation, both in altitude as Laurissilva- forest classified as World Natural Heritage Site by UNESCO since December 1999.
