Calheta Beach

The artificial yellow sand Calheta Beach village was opened in 2004.

The artificial yellow sand beach in the town of Calheta was opened in 2004. Calheta was, in fact, the first town in Madeira to import sand from Morocco.
Calheta Beach is 100 m long and has two embankment breakwaters as a form of protection.
Located close to Porto de Recreio, it has a solarium measuring around 7,300 m2.
It is often sought after by canoeists and windsurfers.
Access is free. It offers sun loungers and parasols.
