Sister Mary Jane Wilson (1840-1916) came to Madeira in 1881 as an English nurse sick and stood at that time in Funchal. In 1884 he founded the Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of Our Lady of Victories, taking the name Sister Mary of St. Francis
