A fantastic one-day cruise to Porto Santo Island located 75km northeast of Funchal, in the North Atlantic Ocean.
Porto Santo is the second largest island of the Madeira archipelago (total area: 41 km2). It has an amazing extensive beach with 9 km of golden sand. It is said that here, time seems to run slower and all concerns disappear. As in Madeira, the warm Gulf Stream softens the climate, and the temperature of the seawater is very pleasant. Even when it rains in the summer the beach is still inviting.

The ferry is in an old condition, and there are too few seats, so it can happen that you have to stand or sit on the floor. The ferry ride takes about 2.5 hours, so I was expecting comfortable seats like those on trains or planes. Unfortunately, there are only simple chairs for the most part. The bus tour on Porto Santo is reminiscent of a pensioners' bus tour. I found it ok overall, but it's not something you have to do.
