The Lady of Conception Chapel is located in the heart of the city of Câmara de Lobos, close to the bay. This chapel was built in 1420 walked by João Gonçalves Zarco, one of the discoverers of the archipelago, is said to have been the first chapel erected on the island. Its altar, Baroque, presents gilded. Inside it is still possible to see paintings by Nicolau Ferreira.
