The Funchal Ecological Park is a protected area located north of Funchal on Madeira Island. This park covers an area of 1000 hectares very rich Madeiran fauna and flora. The park has great resources for geomorphological and biological education and often serves as outdoor classroom and to perform many outdoor activities such as biking tours or canyoning. It was also implemented a reforestation project of many native species pertecentes the Lauraceae family. This is a very important measure to become a regular attraction of the park. Besides all this the park also has leisure facilities for visitors.
