The CR7 Museum was opened on December 15, 2013 and is where the history of Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo is depicted. The museum is located on Avenida Sá Carneiro near the Port of Funchal and next to the hotel named after him.
Originally the museum was located on Imperatriz Dona Amélia street, but on June 6, 2016, it moved to a new space in July 2016, in Praça do Mar, with 1,400 square meters and integrated in the hotel built in a partnership between Cristiano Ronaldo and the Pestana Group.
This second inauguration was attended by several dignitaries such as the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and the President of the Regional Government, Miguel Albuquerque, in addition to Cristiano Ronaldo himself.
The museum floor is made of Portuguese pavement. The exhibition contains photographs and emblematic videos of the athlete's career and a wax statue. In the museum are present all the youth and professional trophies won at the service of their clubs (Andorinha, Nacional, Sporting, Manchester United and Real Madrid) and the national team.
In front of the museum, by the Madeiran sculptor Ricardo Velosa, there is a bronze statue of the football player, which has become notorious among visitors.
